Will you or won’t you Na-No-Wri-Mo? Here’s something for both sides.
The Artdog Image of Interest
Will you or won’t you? Here’s one more thought as we approach National Novel-Writing Month, AKA Na-No-Wri-Mo. Remember: one week from today, it starts!
Some of my friends enjoy the challenge and find it motivating. But I have to admit that this cartoon character’s response is usually my strategy:

This is because I write slowly. The “will you or won’t you” writer who answers “yes” writes fast.
Na-No-Wri-Mo is for people who prefer to get it all out in a fast-paced blurt. Then they sort through the debris in the aftermath, searching for story-parts from which to build a story. It’s kind of analogous to reductive sculpture (such as carving). Or maybe “found-object” art is a better parallel.
It drives me nuts if I can’t go back an review, refine, and rewrite as I go. It saves me time in the long run, because there’s less reclamation work to do. But it’ll never win me any prizes in a Na-No-Wri-Mo competition!
That’s why, if you ask me “will you or won’t you Na-No-Wri-Mo, I’m always more likely to choose the “Av-Mo.”
This post is the second of two posts featuring cartoons about Na-No-Wri-Mo. See also It’s getting on toward time. Are you ready?
